A Soft Landing
Enough climbing for tonight—my legs were buzzing! I took one running leap from the bookshelf's bottom ledge straight across to the sofa. Whoosh! I plunged boots-first right into the valley between two giant cushions. The fabric squished deep, completely swallowing my momentum! Instead of bouncing up to tackle another summit, I flopped backward into the soft weave and stretched my arms wide. Even my line needed to rest; I let it curl loosely across a stray button while I stared up at the vast ceiling shadow.
