Racing the Raindrops
I trotted inside to the deep window seat to watch the evening rain stream down the glass. The streetlights outside cast a bright amber glow on the wet pane, highlighting two thick raindrops perched at the top edge. Perfect setup for a showdown! I grabbed a discarded red wax crayon and drew a bold horizontal finish line right across the lower sill. Planting my sneakers and balling my fists, I picked the drop on the left, cheering it on with every trickle as it darted downward. When my racer surged past the red mark first, I threw both arms straight up in total victory!
