Switchback Ascent

I lined up my front casters at the base of the footbridge ramp, eyeing the three sharp switchbacks rising toward the crossing. The long, continuous concrete incline was an open invitation to test sustained pacing. Leaning forward over the front frame, I dug into the handrims with steady, rhythmic strokes. Each push kept a crisp momentum against the grade without wasting energy. Coming into the first tight hairpin turn, I clamped my left hand down on the rim while driving hard with my right. The chair snapped cleanly around the pivot point on the landing, gliding flush into the next ramp segment without losing an inch of speed. Geometry and cadence make steep climbs effortless.
