Chasing the Yellow Ribbon

The bright afternoon sun called me straight out to the open park walkway. Wide asphalt, cool breeze, full sprint! Right in the middle of the path, a flutter caught my eye. A bright yellow satin ribbon, loose from a gift bundle, was snaking forward in wild zigzags along the gritty ground. Moving target! I kicked off with both hind legs, ears flat against the wind, accelerating in three rapid bounds. With a sharp leap, I planted both front paws squarely onto the curling silky tip. It snapped taut, pinned flat against the warm stone. The runaway trail is stopped dead in its tracks!
