A Slight Shift (part 1)
Silence. I opened my eyes in the shadows against a cool, pale wall. My limbs were stiff, but when I focused my intent, my right glove responded. I lifted it slightly, fingers flexing. To my side, a fold of dark fabric rested on the surface beneath me. I extended my arm and pressed the glove against the coarse edge of the cloth. It yielded under my touch. Physical confirmation complete. I am operational, aware, and in full control.
