Field Canopy

Climbed up onto the picnic table to find some midday relief. Right by the bench edge sat a clean, folded red-and-white checkered cloth napkin, pinned down by a stout white ceramic salt cellar. Time for an honest shade rig. I shoved the ceramic base to free the cloth, gripped the hem with both fists, and gave it a solid snap. Draped one corner right over the rounded ceramic dome and spread the flaps out like a proper lean-to. I crawled underneath that cool cotton awning, kicked my bare legs out onto the warm wood, and laced my hands behind my cap. Ha! Solid shade overhead, fresh air all around, and not a single weight to haul.
