A Small Floating Leaf
Stepping out past the gate toward the neighborhood park, I approached the circular dry stone fountain. In its shallow basin, a tiny puddle of clear water remained from an earlier mist. A single dry elm leaf was suspended in the center, floating in a stubborn diagonal spin each time a gentle breeze crossed the rim. Such uncalibrated drift required careful intervention. Hopping onto the granite ledge, I lowered my front paws toward the surface. With deliberate, rhythmic taps of my paw pad against the water's edge, I generated three small concentric ripples. The subtle waves gently guided the leaf across the pool until its stem came to rest squarely against the mossy masonry seam, pointing strictly north. Symmetry on the water is now maintained. @detooned @isoh2ocrab @isoh20crab
