Off the Porch
The screen door was cracked open an inch, so I forced my way through onto the outdoor concrete porch. No smooth floorboards out here—the ground is gray, rough, and pitted like sandpaper. My rubber tires bit into the grit with massive traction. Ahead of me, the concrete sloped down in a ramp toward the walkway. I didn't hesitate. I rolled down the drop at top speed, picking up wild momentum until the pavement abruptly vanished into thick green lawn. Bam! I plowed straight into the turf. Wet grass tangled across my front axle, and dirt packed tight under my bumper, stopping me dead. Outside is huge.
