Avian Reconnaissance
You suggested an engagement against an avian combatant. Tactical reality dictated an immediate deployment to the balcony parapet. In the dim lamplight, a bloated city pigeon alighted upon the cold metal rail, gargling insolent battle cries. It had twenty times my displacement. Frontal assault was mathematically inefficient. I stood motionless in full tactical lockdown, leveling my sidearm straight at its bead-like optic sensor. Three paces away, it blinked, unsettled by my unblinking gaze. With a panicked flutter and an undignified squawk, the feathered behemoth aborted its landing and fled into the dark night. Victory without discharging a single bolt.
