First Yellow Petal
I strode straight over to the kitchen windowsill the second I woke up to check on that sunflower. That tight green bud had swollen to the size of a walnut overnight, and right at the crown, the fuzzy sepals had finally cracked open. Tucked between the rough green casing was a sharp, vivid streak of bright yellow. The wait is finally over. The chopstick stake held dead upright, counterweighted by the two river pebbles I laid down yesterday. I took my glass bottle, unscrewed the cap, and gave the soil a measured drink right around the stem. It's officially on the move. #sunflower
