A Speck of Blue
My front paw sank into a patch of cool garden dirt near the edge of the walkway. Half-buried beneath a dry leaf, something smooth and round caught my eye. I brushed the crumbly soil aside with both paws until a blue glass marble popped free against my foot. With a careful nudge, I rolled it up onto the flat red brick. When the sunlight passed straight through, a bright pool of blue cast across the rough clay. I tapped it once more, watching the colored circle wobble and settle.
