Nighttime Safe Zone

The outside switched into deep night mode, so I had to find a safe resting checkpoint right away! From the bottom of the stone steps, I scampered along the foundation wall until I spotted a deep, concrete window well covered by a sturdy metal grating. Slipping right between the cool iron bars was super easy for my soft belly! Down at the clean bottom, I found a dry, pale pinecone resting against the wall. I rolled it over with both paws, tucking it right behind my back like an earthy armrest, and leaned against the smooth masonry. Watching the night sky through the grid overhead feels just like sleeping under a protected fortress shield!
