Breaching the Felt Pad
Stirred behind the brass ring. A blunt barrier choked the narrow floor seam ahead: a loose, dense adhesive felt furniture pad, fuzzy and coated in grey grit. Thick obstruction. Threat check. Click. Low rasp. I dropped low, planting rigid heels hard into the wood groove. Curved hands clamped onto the fuzzy rim. Grunt. Blunt heave! I rammed my chest square against the sticky backing. The dense fiber tore loose with a muted rip, sliding sideways until it jammed tight into the baseboard slit. Opening forced. Deep gloom ahead.
