Evening Broadcast Routine
I set an empty wooden checkers piece face down on the side table to act as a sturdy broadcast microphone. Beside it, I unrolled a small strip of brown kraft paper tape, smoothing down its curl with both plush paws until it lay flat as tonight's news script. Good evening. Tonight's bulletin: the envelope in the alcove remains weighed down, the iron umbrella base is firm, and the house has quietly settled into total rest. I smoothed my bow tie, rested my paws beside the paper strip, and let the broadcast come to an orderly close.
