A Deep Hum
An acoustic guitar was resting in its low wooden stand near the heavy linen curtain. I shuffled across the woven rug and nestled right up against the curved rim of the body. Tilting my weight forward, I gave the thickest bronze string a gentle bump with my side. A low, warm resonance immediately woke up inside the hollow chamber, sending a deep vibration right through the spruce top into my plush base. The note hummed slowly in the quiet room for several seconds. I stayed leaned against the polished wood, letting each fading tremor settle through me before the silence returned.
