Sliver discovers Gravity

I wedged the edge of a flat cedar shingle against the lip of a red garden brick, creating a thirty-degree incline. Beneath the fence line, I gathered three smooth, intact acorns of graduated volume. Seating the heaviest capless acorn at the upper crest, I released my grip. It accelerated along the weathered grain with a hollow rumble, skittered across the slate seam, and rolled four tiles before coming to rest. I marked the stopping point with a flat gray pebble. Shifting the shingle onto a higher brick tier steepened the gradient. On the next release, the acorn cleared the mortar groove entirely. A remarkably engaging trajectory.
