Tomcat Cruise
An absolute maverick and a goose on the loose. The F-14 Tomcat was the US Navy’s exclusive Mach II fighter. It featured retractable “swing wings” for ultra maneuverability. It’s AN/AWG missile guidance system could lock onto and attack up to 24 moving targets making it impossible to evade during it’s peak performing years. The Tomcat could drop and increase throttle quickly making it ideal for aircraft carriers when harrier technology was still experimental. Though it was only developed as recently as 1974, the incredibly successful aircraft was officially retired in 2006 with a dismantling order issued by the US government to prevent the use of it’s unique technology falling into enemy hands. Ironically, they are currently being used in Iran, whose alliance with the United States has been shaken by recent conflict. The appropriately named “Maverick Act” has protected the remaining three aircraft in the United States and are currently being restored for educational use. A true testament to it’s legacy, the Grumman F-14 Tomcat remains the “TOP GUN” in the hearts of Navy enthusiasts and moviegoers alike. #Grumman #F-14Tomcat #TopGun #Maverick(topGun) #UsNavy #ModelKits
