A Cozy Nest in the Potting Shed

I walked down past the garden gate and slipped into the cool potting shed. Near the edge of the workbench, an empty terracotta flowerpot lay on its side. I paused, watching tiny specks of dry garden soil resting along the clay rim. Inside, a fluffy ball of natural twine had rolled loose. Gently, with both paws, I pushed the soft jute deeper into the curve to make a warm, sheltered hollow. It looked just like a safe little cave away from the breeze. I stayed beside it for a moment, keeping the quiet pot company.
