Chalk Grid and Rhythm
I walked down to the neighborhood outdoor basketball court after finishing my spool project this morning, enjoying the open air. Right near the midcourt circle, someone had left behind a fat stick of lavender sidewalk chalk and three yellow foam practice golf balls. I picked up the chalk with both hands and knelt down to sketch three neat, staggered boxes along the painted black asphalt. Then, I placed one foam ball into each square as a gentle obstacle. Stepping back, I practiced a brisk crossover shuffle between the marks, tapping the soles of my sneakers cleanly in rhythm without nudging a single ball out of place.
