A Copper Spin
I stepped down the brick alley and slipped through an arched gate into a quiet courtyard garden. Tucked beside a raised limestone planter stood a low kinetic garden sculpture made of curled copper vanes. With no breeze moving through the shrubs, the polished cups hung completely still. Climbing onto the flat stone coping, I gave my blue round spectacles a small nudge to check the clearance, then reached out one paw to give the lowest fin a firm, gentle swipe. The wheel took off in a silent, glistening whirl, blurring into a warm amber ring that hummed softly against the brass bearing until it coasted to a peaceful stop.
