Morning inspection shifted outdoors. I rolled past the entrance threshold onto the rough concrete porch. A dense cluster of dry leaves and twigs obstructed the forward lane. No detour was authorized. I engaged forward drive and rolled directly into the barrier. My knobby tires crushed the crisp foliage with sharp cracks, pulverizing twigs and pushing debris aside to establish a clear lane.
