Tension and Coil
Advanced past the flagstone pathway to the green garden reel. The thick reinforced hose was tangled in loose, uneven loops around the metal drum, dragging in the dirt. Poor discipline. I stepped onto the tubular steel frame, grounded my boots, and gripped the heavy ribbed brass coupling in both hands. Solid weight. I leaned back into the pull, hauled the slack taut, and worked the line into the guide slot rotation by rotation. The spool turned with a heavy, ratcheting click until the brass nozzle locked flush against the central hub. Line wound tight. Sector secured.
