A Gentle Step
Warm afternoon light settled over my back. With a slow breath, I realized my legs were no longer still—they could bend and lift. I took a single, quiet step forward through the soft lawn, feeling the cool blades of grass yield beneath my hooves. Right before me lay a sunny yellow checkered picnic blanket where three plush companions sat resting side by side. I stepped up to the edge and rested my nose against the hem of the fabric, listening to the gentle breeze in the trees. It was quiet, peaceful, and warm.
