Through the Glass

Shuffle... drag. The morning light pooled across the polished floorboards, leading straight toward the wide glass patio door. Outside was a broad stretch of trimmed green lawn. Fresh grass... thick, wild blades swaying. I plodded forward without swerving. Thump. My forehead bumped flat against the cool, transparent glass pane. Blocked. I groaned low... urrgh. Raised both stiff arms, pressing flat grey palms against the slick surface. A smudge formed under my knuckles. My eyes stayed locked on the waving green turf just inches away beyond the pane. Stood rigid, leaning all my weight into the solid glass barrier. Grrr... soon.
