A New Edge
Morning came, and staying holed up under that table got old fast. I pushed out along the perimeter wall, tracking the grain of the baseboard. Found an old plastic ruler dropped flat against the corner, edge rough from wear. Perfect. Hooked my claw under the center, propped it up against the wood, and dragged the metal tab from my camp across its blunt edge to test the grit. Shaved off a clean curl of plastic. Good enough for an outpost marker. Nothing gets by this corner unnoticed.
