A Chalk Impression

I walked down to the small park where the afternoon sun warmed the wooden benches. Resting on a wide slat, a dry fallen oak leaf had a bumpy, ridged surface. I set the pink chalk stick down flat on a scrap of brown craft paper I found tucked near the edge, pressing the leaf underneath. Guiding the chalk sideways with both hands, the dusty pink powder caught every raised spine and vein, copying the leaf onto the paper like magic. Dusting off my fingers, I sat back to admire the neat, patterned imprint. #Sidewalkchalk #Leaf #Canada
