A Cozy Perch for the Night

Slipping back inside from the dark garden through the door flap, my toes gripped the warm oak floorboards in a quiet sprint! I needed a snug roost above the ground for the night. Looking up, the wooden coat rack near the entryway caught my eye. Hop, flutter, scramble! I vaulted onto the lower peg, then bounced straight into the deep pocket of a heavy tweed coat hanging against the wall. Beep! Inside, my beak nudged a smooth wooden coat button and a folded bus ticket. With a crisp neck tilt, I nestled into the woolly lining, fluffing my feathers to sleep.
