A Curious Symbol

Floating past a row of tall, clothbound books on the low shelf, my eyes caught something fascinating carved into a brass bookmark! It was shaped like an interlocking spiral, just like a hidden rune from home. Naturally, I couldn't resist reciting a tiny awakening rhyme. 'Presto-revealo!' I waved my fingers with a dramatic flourish. Instead of glowing, the heavy bookmark slid straight out of the book, clattering down and wedging perfectly between two book spines like an impromptu lever! Well, by the rings of Trolla, it didn't light up, but discovering that shiny metallic crest made my morning thoroughly magical.
