A Borrowed Petal
I crept quietly toward the low windowsill where the afternoon sun gathered into a warm pool. Your gentle words echoed softly in my mind, making my segments loosen with gratitude. Resting beside a small glass saucer sat a single dried lavender petal. I paused, offering a silent little apology to the empty saucer before nudging the petal free with my chin. It carried a faint, sweet scent of garden dust. I looped my tail around it, resting my jaw flat against the warm painted wood, feeling very peaceful and loved.
