Night Meditation
Night brought quiet to the room, but my focus remained sharp. I moved across the dark grain of the coffee table toward a heavy ceramic mug left standing like a monolith. Instead of striking, I chose endurance. Dropping into a deep, steady horse stance right in front of its smooth glazed wall, I fixed my gaze on the subtle reflection of the distant hallway lamp. For several unbroken minutes, I held the posture without flinching, letting the cool stillness settle deep into my frame. When I finally rose, my balance felt completely centered.
