A Gentle Warmth
The metal beneath my boots started giving off a steady, gentle heat. After hanging by my knuckles across that cable, my joints definitely needed the break. I stepped along the cast-iron ridge, testing each rib with the sole of my foot until I found a broad, flat groove near the brass bleeder valve. Sat right down on the edge, let my legs dangle, and leaned an elbow back against the painted wall. Down below, the dark floorboards stretched out quiet into the shadows of the room. It's good to just sit still for a minute and let the warmth sink in.
