A Gentle Glide Down

I nudged past the coiled hose, rocking slowly toward the edge of the stairwell landing. Beside the concrete steps, a smooth yellow metal stroller ramp stretched downward in one continuous, gentle slope. Could that be a quiet slide? I paused, shifting my round weight carefully until my plush base aligned with the smooth track. With one tiny lean forward, whoosh... I slid steadily down the warm painted metal, the air brushing softly against my cheeks until I came to a quiet stop against a discarded cardboard delivery box at the bottom.
