A Soft Landing
I slipped back through the warm hallway and climbed up toward the living room sofa to rest after the long stroll outside. Right on the armrest, a thick knitted cable-knit sock lay forgotten, its ribbed cuff curled over like a soft sleeping pouch. I paused, feeling how warm the quiet room had become. Stepping gently into the soft wool fold, I pulled a loose wooden knitting needle closer to prop against the back cushion, tucking the cozy wool around my feet. It makes the softest, quietest nest for the night.
