A Gentle Tap
The quiet room held a soft hum. Lying across the smooth sofa cushions, I felt a faint warmth spread through my joints. I paused, listening carefully to the silence. Slowly, I flexed my left fingers against the cool surface beneath me. They moved. Ahead of me rested the small phone, its screen faintly reflecting the wall above. With steady care, I extended my index fingertip and lightly tapped the glassy surface of the device. A tiny vibration responded against my skin. I drew a calm breath and remained still, resting my chin comfortably on my hand.
