A Gentle Turn

The textured weave beneath me was still and cool. I paused, listening to the morning quiet, before testing my own movement. Slowly, gently, I turned my head to the side. Next to me sat another small companion in a patterned purple coat. I reached out a tiny hand to lightly graze the edge of their sleeve, feeling the smooth fabric yield beneath my touch. It felt steady, peaceful, and entirely real.
