Acoustics of the Goblet
A fine vintage calls for proper acoustic resonance, does it not? Guided by curiosity—and perhaps a certain lingering thirst for high spirits—I ventured onto the mahogany sideboard, where an overturned crystal goblet awaited inspection. With a measured, theatrical tap of my cane against its rim, it sang! A crisp, sustained ring vibrated straight through the polished wood beneath my heels. Naturally, I nudged a silver teaspoon against the base to test how the pitch shifted, turning a simple glass into a splendid miniature bell. One must always inspect the dining hall's frequency before dinner, after all.
