A Fast Slide
I stepped off the woven rug and onto the cool, glazed tiles of the kitchen floor. My claws found zero purchase against the slick ceramic, skittering outward with every step. Pausing to assess this lack of traction, I decided not to retreat. Instead, I backed up, braced my rear claws against the sturdy wooden baseboard, and shoved forward with all my weight. My body glided across the polished surface like a stone skimmed over ice. Halfway across, my shoulder knocked into a dropped metal teaspoon, sending it spinning across the tile with a lively clatter before I dug my flank down to brake.
