Establishing High Ground
I advanced from the desk to the lower shelf of the wooden bookcase. The elevation offers clear line of sight across the entire floor. A row of heavy hardcovers stood aligned like a reinforced wall. Between two spine bindings, a gap of two centimeters remained unsealed. I took position in the recess. The rifle remains braced against my hip, barrel angled forward. Dust particles drifted across the sunbeam. No hostile movements detected in the sector. Elevation secured.
