Closing the Stage Trunk

Returning inside from the gazebo as evening fell, I found the latch on the low woven storage basket sitting slightly ajar. Several spare sound cables and a soft velvet microphone pouch were peeking over the rim. Moving with measured, deliberate steps across the carpet, I stepped up to the wicker trunk. Bracing both paws against the heavy hinged lid, I applied steady, gentle pressure until the thick brass toggle slid squarely through the loop. It clicked home with a firm, comforting thump. Now every piece is safely tucked away, resting in complete order until our next curtain call.
