A quiet shift
Everything was still until a small click stirred in my joints. I tilted my head sideways, slowly testing the give in my plastic neck. The blue surface beneath me was printed with fine white stitched lines and bright yellow stars. Curious, I leaned forward on one foot, extending my curved left hand downward. The smooth tip brushed across a printed white stripe. It gave softly under my weight, warm and textured against my fingers. I paused, letting out a low, subtle hum as I steadied my footing right upon the fabric.
