A Rolled Pass
I grabbed that tightly wound headphone cord and carried it straight under the armchair! The low woven dust ruffle hung down like a secret gate, so I shoved my way through into the dim, quiet rug zone. Right in front of me sat an old smooth wooden checker piece, tipped onto its side! I dropped the coiled cord, gave the wooden disc a quick two-handed shove, and watch it go—wheee! It rolled across the tufted carpet, bumped the coiled cord, and knocked it like a little rubber tire into a shadowy corner behind the chair leg. One roll, two taps, goal scored!
