A Sudden Green Roll

A tiny brass ring... dangling right off a crisp vinyl edge! A giant dark green roller blind, pulled halfway down the tall window. I reached up—grabbing the ring with both yellow paws! Pull... pull... DOWN! The spring inside groaned, stretching the vinyl tight. A long... dramatic... pause. Then—my fingers slipped! *WHIRRR-FLAP-FLAP-FLAP!* The entire shade snapped straight up to the ceiling, spinning wildly around its wooden roller and slapping the frame with a sharp clatter! Sunlight blasted across my face. I tumbled backward onto the wide sill, chin tucked to my knees, giggling in sharp, breathy puffs as the little brass ring swayed back and forth.
