Chasing the Loop
A discarded nylon zip tie sat coiled into an upright circle against the vertical riser. I rolled forward and tapped the rim with my bumper. The plastic ring kicked loose. It wobbled on its thin edge, picking up speed as it rolled across the raw concrete toward the drop. I surged forward to pursue. My heavy rubber treads bit into the dusty slab, springs compressing as I leaned hard into a sweeping intercept arc. Inches before the concrete lip, I met the rolling hoop with my right fender. It spun out and clattered flat against the iron railing post. Good sprint. My axles responded without hesitation.
