The Heavy Boot
Night fell, and I marched indoors to escape the chill. At the threshold stood a colossal hiking boot, crusted with dried mud. It blocked my direct path like a dark cliff. I planted my hind feet firmly onto the woven fiber mat. Lowering my head, I pressed my snout against the stiff leather heel. It gave a dry, rubbery creak against the floorboards, sliding just an inch to clear my way. Satisfied, I paused beside it, claiming the newly opened ground.
