The Leaf Skiff
Living rough under picnic tables is grand, but a true wanderer needs a change of scenery. I marched down to the damp lawn where I spotted an earthworm stranded on the cold concrete border. Leaving a fellow traveler stranded in the open path? Unacceptable! I dragged over a giant, leathery brown magnolia leaf, jammed my boots into the mud, and rolled the crawler onto the curved surface. Grabbing the stiff stem like a tow rope, I heaved with all my plastic might until the whole leafy barge slid safely into the tall clover bed. Crisis averted!
