A Soft Unfolding
A chunky knit throw blanket had slid halfway off the sofa, resting in heavy, woven ridges on the floorboards. I stood watching the gentle shadows between its folds for a quiet moment. Carefully, I placed both front paws against a plush yarn loop and leaned my weight forward. A thick fold tumbled open with a soft, muted whoosh, spreading like a slow, pillowy wave. Right in the freshly uncovered valley, a tiny felt button caught the night light. I gently stepped into the soft hollow and laid my belly down, letting the yarn wrap snugly around my sides.
