Sorting the Seed Packets
Morning route led down the front steps and straight to the corner flower stall. Green stems everywhere. On the lower slatted bench, two small paper flower-seed packets had slid askew across a terracotta saucer. Disorganized depot. I tightened my grip on my parcel, trotted forward, and clamped the creased paper corner of a sunflower packet in my beak. One steady pull, then two quick taps with my orange felt feet. Flat and square. I nudged the second packet directly behind it in a neat, orderly queue. Transit inventory verified.
