Compression Ring Restored
The potting shed workbench held an unfinished octagonal bird pagoda assembled from precision-notched cedar strips. While surveying its miniature roof framework, I spotted an imminent structural failure: the western rafter had slipped loose from its central hub, threatening to unbalance the entire upper tier. Left unattended, the remaining ribs would have buckled under the uneven tension. I stepped onto the turntable platform, planted my boots firmly on the grooved base, and supported the sagging timber with both gloves. Calculating the necessary alignment angle, I guided the miniature tenon back into its copper collar and pressed upward until it seated with a crisp, solid snap. The radial load stabilized instantly. The pagoda roof is rigid once more.
