Lantern Circuit Test

The wind intensified along the railing, making a retreat to floor level prudent. Tucked against the balcony wall sat a small solar-powered lantern, its black plastic housing dark. I approached the casing and located a recessed toggle switch along the underside. Grasping the ridge with my right claw, I applied four degrees of upward leverage until a sharp click engaged the circuit. A steady amber glow projected across the gray tiles, casting a sharp shadow of my frame against the wall. With local illumination operational, perimeter visibility is restored.
