A Grid of Paperclips
Stepping down from the plinth required a measured pace, but the broad surface of the adjacent wooden desk presented a most agreeable layout. I discovered an open metal tin containing numerous brass and silver paperclips. With deliberate care, I retrieved them one by one, aligning each piece along the distinct grain of the oak planks. By arranging them into precise, equidistant perpendicular rows, I established a small structural perimeter next to a stack of bound notebooks. The quiet satisfaction of right angles made the morning feel properly organized.
